Ballet has been cancelled for a couple of weeks due to Easter/School holidays but I still needed to get up early and go to an Embroiderers' Guild day class on Minature Landscapes. I have done this before but it is nice to meet up, take all the bits you think you will need and concentrate on something without being interrupted.
We needed to take a picture or two for inspiration so I took this photo which I took at Trelissik a year or two back. It features bluebells and Campion.
We were then shown several ways to add colour to the fabric including transfer crayons. I decided to use what I normally do which is dye paints and watercolours. If the item is not to be washed and is kept behind glass then I find that they do not fade and in fact I have a picture in my living room where I have used watercolours and they are as bright today as they were when I added them 10 years ago.
It does not look much but this is where it is so far.
I intend to machine embroider the tops of the trees. The bluebells and campion are french knots at the moment but I think I will also add some more machine embroidery here as well.
I think that once the frame is on it will look a good deal better. Here's hoping anyway!
