FNSI - Applique cushion cover.

This is my first sign up, and thank you to Wendy for helping when I could not get my own link to load up.  My struggle with technology continues.

I may not have made quite as much progress as I thought I would as I was quite worn out on friday evening.

Anyway, this is a half made applique panel which is left over from a quilt that I made quite some time ago, and has been lying around waiting for something to happen to it.  So the applique was completed with satin stitch on the sewing machine.

It is not currently big enough to do much with so I had a search through my scrap fabric and managed to find a few strips which I think are left over from the same quilt.

I did not have enough of any one colour so I picked two blue gingham and two plain blue strips to widen the overall panel.

I think this will look ok and the plain blue picks out the blue of the heart applique as well..  Not sure if it will be big enough for the cushion I have so I might need another row.  Coming along though.

In fact there is rubbish on the television at the moment so I think I might pop off and finish it.

OPAM 2012 Felty Floral Finish

This is my latest felt book/journal cover which will go into my Etsy shop or can be purchased directly through Paypal if you send me your email address plus free P&P if you live in the UK..
  It fits a A6 hard backed notebook or journal and is removeable so can be transferred to another book.

All of the flowers are hand cut and I used a nice large blue brad in the centre plus blue felt and a zingy lime green.

Plenty of hand stitching for added detail.

Running stitch and chain stitch are two of my favourites as they are strong and show up well on a project like this.

A label added on the inside.

An ideal spring gift or a treat for yourself.  I use them for project notes and I do have several which you could say were the prototypes when I first came up with the designs ideas for my book covers.

These designs can easily be enlarged for bigger notebooks or journals.

April OPAM is off to a good start.

What do you think of this design?  I love making these and I think that the feel of the felt has a lot to do with it.  Great colours and quite a tactile finish once made up.

Wall of Roses...

If you like roses then you might like this.....

An applique rose wall-hanging using a binding technique which gives it a stained glass window effect. I like roses, flowers and anything a little Mackintosh-like. This took ages to make and was a lot of fun. I will confess it was not made recently and has spent its time wrapped up in tissue paper! Criminal isn't it? Anyway it is to be listed in Etsy as it needs a new home. It does not come with the hanger as it is the last one I have and I have another wall hanging in progress. I have decided to go back and make some more wall-hangings which I used to do a lot of, mainly commissions, and I sort of miss doing them.

This picture has not represented the colours too well, the bigger picture is better. You can see the dark grey binding which was hand cut, ironed, pinned and machine stitch onto the background fabric.

I used satins and silks for the roses and the leaves.

I am attending a stash busting/ Craft Fair on Saturday at Peranwell on the way to Falmouth and if this does not sell there then it will be listed on Sunday.

My next wall hanging has a fairy theme. I made one for Sophie when she was about two so I shall take some pictures and show that too.

I went to my sewing group tonight and I have finished all of the main blocks, so the next stage is to cut and stitch the strips on the edges to sew the whole thing together. Then it is the bit I do not like, quilting it without puckering all of it.
