Birdie Range - Website Product added

Just added this little "Birdie" to my website.

Would make a lovely birthday gift and the cover to removeable to put on another book.

It is all hand stitched.

My website is ideal for buying presents that you will not find on the high street at affordable prices.  When I am looking for a present I try to find something a bit different and that the recipient is unlikely to have seen before.

Felt Book Cover - Indigo Stitched Designs

I have been waiting to list this felt book cover until the website was up and running.

It is a new design which includes hand cut felt, embroidery and brads to bring this design alive.

I love this green colour and use it quite a bit.

The cover is re-usable and will fit an A6 hard backed book.  I do have some spares which I shall be listing too.  Pop over and take a look at the other versions that I have listed.

Felt Floral Book/Journal Cover

I have been saving the listing of this new design until I had the website up and running.

It is now listed here and ready to go.  If it is intended as a gift I can send the item directly to the recipient for you, gift wrapped and you just need to send the card separately.  All included in the flat rate postage and packaging.  It is just an idea rather than paying twice.

I am not a huge green  lover but I do love this colour!  I often use it  in my book cover designs, very eye-catching.

Birdie Book Cover OPAM 2012

Catching up with some items I made before I went away.  Gosh, is it really a week since we got back?  This is my latest Birdie Range felt book cover.  This time he has LEGS! (Or she if your prefer)

I wanted to add more hand stitched detail with this version.  This time chain stitch and running stitch.

A cheery little soul on a pink background. 

He would love a new home and will be added to the new website.

OPAM 2012 Felty Floral Finish

This is my latest felt book/journal cover which will go into my Etsy shop or can be purchased directly through Paypal if you send me your email address plus free P&P if you live in the UK..
  It fits a A6 hard backed notebook or journal and is removeable so can be transferred to another book.

All of the flowers are hand cut and I used a nice large blue brad in the centre plus blue felt and a zingy lime green.

Plenty of hand stitching for added detail.

Running stitch and chain stitch are two of my favourites as they are strong and show up well on a project like this.

A label added on the inside.

An ideal spring gift or a treat for yourself.  I use them for project notes and I do have several which you could say were the prototypes when I first came up with the designs ideas for my book covers.

These designs can easily be enlarged for bigger notebooks or journals.

April OPAM is off to a good start.

What do you think of this design?  I love making these and I think that the feel of the felt has a lot to do with it.  Great colours and quite a tactile finish once made up.

Felt Stitched Notebook Cover

I have been looking through some of my pictures and found this book cover.  I do not think that I have blogged about it before.  It is A5 and all hand cut and stitched.  I love making these in all different sizes and the above design is my own and I have created various versions of it.

There are so many buttons, threads and fabric on the market at the moment that there simply is not enough time to do all of the sewing that I would like!  I have managed to continue with my New Year Resolution of using what I already have.

These re-usable book covers are fun to use and look great on my sewing table.

I have just finished another one but I have not taken any pictures of it.  I completed it whilst at a Craft Fair last weekend and I really must take more to do next time as it was really relaxing and did catch the eye of some passers by.

This will be listed on Etsy later this week.

I shall be away next week so if anyone is interested in anything on Etsy for Easter then yo have until Sunday evening to order it.

I have brought the fleece flower bag home for Sophie and hidden it.  I have a rabbit glove puppet to go in it and I shall sneak off to buy a new top.  Sophie has grown quite a bit lately and those sleeves are getting a bit short on some of her favourite tops.  She has done nothing but eat and eat this past two weeks, another growth spurt I think.

Hi Little Birdie...

"little Birdie" range

Remember the quilt block that I made a few weeks ago? Here is the start on my "Birdie" range of book covers. This is the first and will be listed in my Etsy shop once I have taken some more pictures. I have several more cut out waiting to be made up. I am going to have variations of this idea and slot a special section into the shop for it to. If you prefer to deal with Folksy and would still like one of these covers in the next few weeks then let me know and I will transfer the item there instead.

On 6th March I am taking part in a CraftFayre, the first in two years, and I shall be shutting the shops for that weekend on Friday 5th march. So if you want anything for Mother's Day or Easter then please purchase the item before the 5th. There is a chance (maybe a slim one!) that the item will not be there on Monday 8th March. I have a 50th Birthday party on 6th too so it is going to be a very busy day.

I have been off work this week with abdominal pains. Thought I had simply pulled some stomach muscles but I have been told that I have not. It has been very painful, it hurts now as I type this but I am getting bored of just sitting around. On some tablets to try and see if it is idea A if not then have to think again. Well it has certainly curtailing any housework too, oh what a shame I hear you cry!

Felt commission

I think one of the best things about having online shops is the possibility of being asked to create a special commission or design. I have been lucky enough to carry out several of these special orders and the above is the latest. The order is from a lovely lady in Australia and the fact that she has not said they she has received it is not going to worry me just yet, but I have emailed to ask.

I am not spoiling her surprise as the order was similar to another cover featured in my Etsy shop. I love making these and I do have another 6 different designs cut out ready to stitch together. I did add additional features to this cover as it was to fit an A4 book, which is the largest that I have ever made.

Due to the bigger size I decided to add some interfacing just to prevent the cover from stretching too much. I then added a fabric label, packed it in my lovely blue tissue paper and labels. It has been over a week since it was sent off and I really do hope that it is alright.

It has been an awful day in my part of Cornwall today but we still took Sophie to a bowling party. Hubby and I hired a lane as well but then had to stop as it malfunctioned and then the party food was served. I was pleased to even go as I had been nursing another bad migraine which started Friday evening soon after I started work on my latest knitted scarf. I had no idea that knitting could affect your health like that. Managed to drag myself out of bed at mid day but mainly because I was hungry! Luckily it has subsided a bit by 3.45pm when the party was due to start but I was not exactly the life and sole of the party but I was still there! Hoping tomorrow will be better. Enjoy the rest of the weekend anyway.

Felty Fun...

Just a few pictures to show you what I made during the Easter Holidays. I noticed that several of my bookcovers were leaning towards some colours and stocks were running low, so I decided to try out some new colour schemes. I love blue anyway and I was surprised when Sophie said how much she liked this one.

However, I still could not abandon the popular pink and green either. Now, the next problem. Etsy or Folksy? I may have to flip a coin.

Mug Swap..I sent these.....

I heard yesterday that my swap partner has received her swap parcel so I can now reveal all. First of all I recycled the cardboard box that was sent to me.First of all I found a cute miniature/small Chocolate cookbook with some mouth watering pictures plus some coffee and yummy Thornton's Chocs.Then of course a mug to drink the coffee in. Now blogger has put this picture wrong. I have tried twice to put it the right way. The flowers look like they have been appliqued on.
Sharon likes blues and greens, so some lovely fabric in those shades. The top one is a screen print ( not by me) or a copy of a screen print and I think is very unusual.

Then some pretties, card flowers, lots of ribbons and a glitzy bow. I thought that perhaps these could be used in a range of things.

Some buttons, I was surprised at how few blue and green buttons I had.

So I used some Cath Kidston fabric to make some cover button, and they have got a bit of green on them.

I put in one of my handmade keyrings and some extra nice tissues.

The best I have left for last. I made one of my felt book covers using S for Sharon. I used lots of hand embroidery, some craft buttons and little flower embellishments. I really enjoyed making this and I have decided to do some more covers like this. Certainly another example but the initial will be to order otherwise I could be swamped with them!

Then I wrapped them all up pretty, blue but no green I'm afraid.

I really enjoyed this swap, as I have every swap. I have another Creative Swap challenge to do next which I due in America by the end of April which will come around soon enough!Take care and thanks for visiting.
