Remember these from last year?

Blog update: First batch of new cosies have now been listed at Folksy.

Well, I have been making some more these for the last few weeks, on and off, and I am listing them in my Folksy shop. Some are already there and I have taken pictures of some new ones today. I shall try and list these when I am watching Larkrise to Candleford tonight.

In my Folksy shop you can see last years versions if you click on the sold section. I do like making to order and if you see a colour scheme that you like or if you would like to place a special order, then now is the time to do it. If you live overseas you will need to give at least a week for these to get to you. So, the sooner the better. I will send these abroad even though that facility is not on my Folksy shop at the moment. It will take two seconds to swap it for you and make it a special order for an individual. Email me any questions if it is easier.

I have another Easter offering which is ideal for sending if a chocolate egg is off limits or not practical to send. More on that tomorrow as I need to go and do some marking. Pop back later to Folksy for cosy listings.

Busy, Busy, Busy....

This is my 291 post so a 300 post giveaway is looming. I shall start to think about it. Today started with staggering downstairs to make that all important first cup of tea, feed the cat and put the bread maker on. Then put some washing on that got forgotten yesterday, tut tut.

Then to put Sophie in the shower, breakfast and then to swiftly move onto housework. We are up and at it today because Hubby wants to see the F1 race today because the weather means that putting the last coat of paint on the garage is unlikely today. I also want to finish some marking, look at a scheme of work and then have some me time. If you have smalls and watch 'Me too' you will know that they have a song about finishing a task on time and it is a bit like that here.

Last night two more felt chick egg cosies were purchased which I am delighted about as I wondered if now that Easter has gone they would sit there doing nothing.

You can give them as gifts anytime. So they need packing and sending tomorrow. I also need to update my shops and take some pictures for a sketchbook project that the Embroiderers Guild is to run for a full year. Sounds along time but that slips by quickly doesn't it?

SEEDS Sketchbook Project

When I was told that the theme for the sketchbook was seeds I inwardly groaned because it did not exactly fill me with inspiration. So I sat on it so to speak for a few weeks but during the Easter break I did manage to make a start. I have more to add but I have not photographed it. I have been a bit slack with pictures this week! I want to do some stitch samples to add to the sketchbook too. The final intention is to have all of the sketchbooks as part of our next exhibition so I want it to be reasonably good. Normally I do sketchbooks just for me and I sometimes show them here but not deliberately for people to see so we are all making a bit of a shaky start!

The ATC's information I shall try and scan again today as it did not want to know yesterday (technology is wonderful, but only when it works!) and as I said before I am looking for 6 people but give me a chance to post the info before you say yes! They are small, you make them all the same as they go to the 6 people.

I also want to spend some time with Sophie who has just started cutting up boxes etc to make something! I have not got a clue what she is making but she does so that is want counts. Yesterday we bought her very first pair of trainers. My little baby is growing up too fast!! Slushy Mummy moment.

So off I must go and try to reach my goal and to catch the light so photos to be taken.

Cutting out and Wallpapering...

It has been one of those weeks where you are very busy but not sure if you have actually got very far.

Sunday's Folksy sale caught me on the hop and I had not made any to fill the gap left. So I decided to have a massive cutting out session...

I love my little board here to keep all of the pieces on. Still manage to lose bits, but never mind.

These have been finished. Tried some egg shaped cosies for fun. I like the challenge of thinking of different patterns for these. Will list these as soon as I can.
I have finished the top of my quilt and I will take a picture at the weekend. Need to peg it out on the line to take a decent picture.

This week has also been taken up with papering one wall in Sophie's room. Her room and most of the upstairs is a total mess as the contents of her room is spread out all over the place. Then to add to it all I found out today that the bed I want to order is out of stock until14th April!!!AAARRRGGGH.

Anyway, this is where we are so far..

Sophie has probably the best room in the house, the sun shines in nearly all day.

Here is a close up of the wall paper that Sophie chose. Very grown up for a 6 year old. I do not like wallpaper, but I do like this.

We just need to paint the opposite wall then wait for the bed to be delivered.

Wacky Egg Cosies

I am going to try and do two things at once today with this post. One is to show you that youngsters stitching in schools is still very alive despite some very silly blogs I have stumbled on and not returned to over the past 18 months and to try and take part in Nannybirds Wacky Wednesday. Having the same Year 7 group all day is a bit Wacky anyway and knackers you for the rest of the week, we have had a lot of success with the work we have done and made many things. So feast your eyes on these little lovelies.....
This is a selection of the Egg cosies that they finished today and were proudly taken home. We went through what felt is and why it is different to cotton fabric. Then we had a basic run through of how felt could be made by hand.
I buy this through the school catalogue.

We had looked at abstract design as part of their wall hangings so we made an abstract felt design. It is a little messy, which they love, and a few volunteers make it fun the watch. It is not fully dried yet but when it is I shall cut it up and they can have a section each which they can then compare their shop bought felt with.

I have made several Chick Egg Cosies and I have now started some basic egg shaped one which I shall try and list in Folksy for UK buyers only so that they can get to you in time. I am now off to my sewing group to do some more work on my blue and white quilt.

Easter Thoughts...

I wanted to do a quick little project with Year 7 just before Easter. I made this last year and ideas began to grow...

I think this idea was a combination of me and an article found in an issue of Crafts Beautiful. It is on a standard egg cup. I really like using felt and showing the group the basics of making felt could be included. It is quite good fun and everyone can take it in turns to have a go.

I then found a pattern for this little chicken in an old magazine which was passed onto me and the cover is missing. I am not so sure about this one as I like shapes that are straight forward to cut and could lend itself to being developed into other things. Sweet nonetheless though. Then came this little cutie....

Now, I have love this little cosy and this I found in another issue of Crafts Beautiful and I am going to develop this into other versions but the basic idea and shape would be ideal to use with the group. I think that the stuents will also be able to develope it into other ideas such as different shaped birds.

Once I had made the above and my sewing table was completely covered with felt I went and got some paper and cut out various shapes until I end up with this...

have designed, cut and pinned the felt ready to stitch next time. One l...I had fun with this egg shaped cosy, choosing the colours, using the scissors to make different shapes in the felt and stitching it together. I have not finished with this idea and I have many more rushing around in my brain, which may be why I have had a headache which then developed into a migraine, so I am struggling to type this at the moment.

I showed all of this to my group today and they were impressed with it and they wanted to have a go. There was one lad who thought that I was making it up that egg cosies existed and that it was a joke and it was not until the others backed me up that he started to believe me and as for tea cosies he thought that there was no such thing. So there is a young man who definitely went home having learnt something yesterday!

I am off to have a lie down! Back with more crafty feltyness soon, once my head has stopped throbbing!
