Recently I bought Craft Seller and attached was a felt brooch kit.
As much as I like strawberries, especially eating them, I did not think that I could make, and then use, three brooches, I could not think of anyone to give them to and to be honest they are quite small in reality. I had another idea for this which I thought might get used more.
I used the picture with the kit as guide for the stitching, the leaves were pre-cut and there was a little bit of thin foam for stuffing. I added quite a bit of the foam as I needed the strawberries to be quite pronounced.
I then raided my collection of cross grain ribbon.
I used the ribbon to form loops and tails.
I can never find a bookmark when I need one and I often end up using a piece of scrap paper.
I have read all of these but I am using one of these book marks myself. The other two I have sent off to friends so two of you will be finding one of these in your post soon. I made the tails longer than these books so that it could be used even with much larger hardbacks.
I am making more of these for stocking fillers and give aways or swaps but with different toppers to them and also some much more fancy ones to go into my shops as well. I have had great fun making these, I think I would quite like to design and make up the samples for kits that go on the front of magazines. The challenge would be great!!
Off to start my new book with my new bookmark.

What a good idea, and very summery too!
Brilliant idea - and they are so bright and appealing. I share your taste in holiday reading too!
What an inspired idea. Like you I often end up with scraps of paper marking my page, maybe my books would thank me for something with a bit more style. :D
Lovely bookmarks - you are so clever!
