Hip Results......

No...it is not some new trendy way of working out your blog stats but my xray results.
It is nothing life threatening but I have been told that there is a "significant" change in both hip joints.  The left being more severe.  Eventually I will need one, maybe two hip replacements but due to being too young for that I have been referred to a specialist to see how I will be "kept going" until such time as a replacement will be done.
I was just relieved that it was nothing more serious....the Big C for example and I am happier now I know that I am not imagining it or it is down to poorly chosen shoes!!
So I have a degenerative problem and due to my age (I am only 42) and medical history it is likely to have been caused when I was born and not detected  (did they look for this type of thing in 1969?) or due to an injury (I was thrown out of the car during an accident before seat belts were installed in the back of cars) but I do not remember there being an issue then and nor does my Mum.
Any way I have another stock of painkillers to see me through to the New Year and I am not going to worry that some days they are not enough and sometime in 2013 I will move on to the next stage.

I have been assured that it can be looked into and treatment carried out and I am not going to let it ruin our Christmas trip.  Rest will need to feature so that I can walk round Bruge, Copenhagen, Gothenberg and Amsterdam.  I have been looking forward to it for 16+months and mentally I have had my bags packed for months!!!
I have my appraisal on Monday then after that I can sail towards Christmas.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I shall be back after I have finished my paperwork.  Hubby and Sophie are putting up the tree and I shall pop in and out when I need a thinking break.
Back soon
xx

Well, I'm glad it's not the worst and I do hope they can get some treatment going that will help you. Enjoy the lead up to Christmas and your trip.

not good that they can't do anything for awhile. My mum has degenerative arthritis in her neck and hands, So I kind of have an idea..
Poor thing. Rest up so that your trip will be a good one!!
Glad it's not something worse.

Oh, dear. Andrea, I'm so glad it's not something worse, although degenerative hips are quite bad enough. I hope that the doctor can offer you some relief beyond the painkillers. They can really suck the "creativity" out of you!
Know that you're in my prayers, my friend.
Merry Christmas from Florida.

You have a diagnosis now and you can manage the pain with medication and the power of your mind. I find that when a new pain starts, it can be a while before I get used to it but after that, it seems to become 'compartmentalised' and doesn't bother me quite so much. I hope the same happens for you.

Glad to here it's not extremely bad and serious!
Enjoy your trip (all those cities are so beautiful!)
I love Bruges and have found couple of craft shops there ;)

So sorry, Andrea, that you now have to contemplate the future with this degenerative condition and all it implies. You are so right to just put it gently to one side for the festive season - you can't after all do much about it anyway. And what a relief to know that there isn't something more sinister going on. I hope you get the very best treatment and management and continue to enjoy a happy and very creative future! Lx

A worrying time...find peace in knowing the facts and keep positive. (I speak as someone who was told they would never walk normally again because of a pelvis issue twelve years ago).

Sorry you have this problem but, like you say, there are worse things it could have been.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was the car accident. A few years ago I had an xray on a damaged ankle, the Doctor said "not broken, look - only the old break". I wasn't aware I had an "old break" but I had been run over some 30 years previously. It must have healed on its own.
I hope that the painkillers work si you can enjoy your Christmas trip and that in 2013 all goes well with any treatment.

I missed this. As an RA sufferer with hip problems I know how bad it can get, but they really can do so very much to alleviate the pain, so please stick to your guns and don't let it get you down. I also find my osteopath an immense help, don't know if that's a route you've tried? Good luck x
