Lanhydrock July 2012

A couple of weeks ago we managed to grab a lovely day over at Lanhydrock.  Not the actual house which is a part of the National Trust, but the woodland walk that would have been used between the house and the railway line.
This post is very picture heavy but I think lovely.  One of the best days we have had so far.....
Sun shining through the trees.
Fast flowing Fowey River again with that not often seen sunlight.
Ideal walkways for cycling and scootering.
Some lovely examples of colour and texture.  Now this would make a lovely machine embroidery piece with handmade felt 3D sections.
Lots and lots of foxgloves which do seem to be a bit thin and spindley this year but still very colourful.
Another machine embroidery shot here.  Once school is out I think that I should have a go, even if it is only a sample.
This is a tree which must have fallen down during strong winds earlier this year.  Again, lovely colours and textures. The bear wood contrasting against the more weathered outer wood.
I think this is a type of thistle.  It was the colour that caught my eye with this picture.
I like to take my camera out with me on walks such as this as you never know what you might see.
One day I would really like to have a picture which I feel happy enough about to enter the BBC Countryfile photographic competition.
I love these pictures and will probably print some off to make my own cards but I shall keep snapping away before I find the one that I will send off.
Strong colours and unusual shapes always catch my eye in the countryside.  I suppose plants are very high on the list as well.
What do you like to take pictures of?
You never know, maybe I shall find that picture this year.
A lovely afternoon and I hope that there will be more to come.
xx

What beautiful photos. The thistle one is lovely, great colours and such an unusual shape. Hope to see your machine embroidery interpretation. Ali x
