Quilt Quest..

...is now finally finished!!! Hurrah!
This is my third big quilt and I really enjoyed making this one. I tried to plan it a bit better this time by sorting out my stash for blue and white based fabric and then buying some more to add to it. This included some nice fabric on Etsy which was my first purchase using them. I then sorted them out into piles to try and make sure that each square had an even spread of each fabric. I placed these in bags. In the pictures you can see that I made use of the Janonme 350e machine at school. I used my own threads but at the same time I tried out some of the patterns to see what they looked like. I ended up using just two of them.

The other squares were mainly log cabin but I also used a heart applique design. I wanted to vary this quilt from the one that I made for Sophie last summer.

The fabric backing is the same one that I used for Sophie's quilt, but I bought the blue version. For the binding I stitched all of the remaining strips together, ironed it in half lengthwise and used this to bind the edge. Mind you I still have many strips left so I got a bit carried away with cutting out for the log cabin squares. So much for all that planning! Here it is in all its glory! It is too big to hang on the rotary drier and my hubby was too busy with painting the garage door at the weekend to hold it up for me. So the next best thing was to drape it over the sofa (Tiger, our cat, is asleep underneath it and did not even wake up!)
I have just spotted a mistake with it and I will have to see if I can change it or not.
I would like to try a more complicated design with my next quilt but for now I have several other things that need making or finishing first.
More tomorrow which is Friday!!
Giveaway announcment tomorrow, so I had better finish making it!

Hi,
I'm an American quilter who stumbled on your blog from another and was thrilled to see you're from Cornwall. We have visited Cornwall twice and love it and it's really fun for me to now have a blog to follow from someone living there.
Your blue and white quilt is lovely and I scrolled back in your blog and saw some of the other beautiful things you have made.
Thanks for sharing.

Wow this is beautiful and the blue and white is lovely. How do you find the time?

I'd love to make a quilt but I know it would languish half finished in the bottom of the cupboard!!!

Have a good weekend
